Since this journey began around late April early May 2013 I’ve numbered each piece to give them a reference point in time, and to give me an idea of how I’m progressing.

With some of the lyrics included here I’ve left unused lines, verses or simply ideas under the heading “Outtakes” below the signature under the finished piece. I find it useful and some have contributed ideas to something new.

159. Most of my heroes. (17 Dec 2016).

There’s no real story behind this. Just a collection of words that appeared in support of the first two lines, which originally were only the one. 159. Most of my heroes. (17 Dec 2016). Most of my heroes, They all … Continue reading

158.I still can see your face, in the thorny roses. (04 Dec 2016).

Not for the first time, and probably not for the last, it’s been a wee while since the last piece posted here. This was never going to be a blog that was characterised by the white hot heat of the … Continue reading

149. I wake up (A true story). (16 Oct 2016).

This was as literal as it sounds in the writing. Except that I hadn’t yet been to sleep last night. Make that this morning. I looked at the clock and it was 00:01. But what I like about this most, … Continue reading

128. Like a breath. (16/04/2016).

Breeze on the back of the neck like a breath, soothes as it comforts annoys as it saddens. A reminder of what’s needed. That what’s required isn’t always available, to be invited into some lives. That the surrogate, however flimsy … Continue reading

2016. (01August 2016).

Not a piece that was shy about coming forward. From the first couple of lines to the final full stop was maybe 20 minutes. Here we are at the hour mark and it’s going out. But then again, good or … Continue reading

49. Stuff and nonsense.

As it says on the “tin” stuff and nonsense. I’m not entirely sure where that opening line came from but I knew it only pointed in one direction. And it was never going to be a serious venture. So here’s … Continue reading

130.It’s cheaper than the Co-op. (17/04/2016).

A short piece done a couple of months ago when I was in, as I remember it, a mischievous mood with just the first two lines to play with. As usual who knows where they came from. It wasn’t too … Continue reading

38.O Ralph. (July ’14)

A combination of things have reminded me of this this morning, so I thought I’d repost it. Just that, nothing more.   38.O Ralph. (July ’14)   If you like things dark and gloomy, Then my psyches plenty roomy, I’m … Continue reading

131. The visits. (30/04/2016).

Surprising, sometimes, what will bubble to the surface during an hours session on a meditation retreat. Some of it’s not exactly what you would call appropriate either.   131. The visits. (30/04/2016). A surprise visit. “Hello there, it’s only me.” … Continue reading

116.Queen of the Hibees. (07/03/2016).

Something that came to life whilst on a writing course at the start of the year, like a lot of things it just kind of evolved into what it is.  It was enjoyable nonsense to write, which is how it … Continue reading
